Acriflavin is a mild antiseptic useful for treating fin-rot and ulcers. It is ideal for use in hospital and quarantine tanks. Acriflavin works by reducing the amount of bacteria in the pond. Whilst a certain level of naturally occurring helpful bacteria is necessary, some of the bacteria can be opportunistic and feed off wounded and stressed fish. Acriflavin kills these types of bacteria lowering the chance of infection and disease in the pond water.
